What DOES The BIBLE Say?

ON

HOMOSEXUALITY

We will soon find the Bible is not ambiguous concerning homosexuality-lesbianism.

We will also answer the important Biblical question, “Who loves and cares for the Homosexual-Lesbian more?”

FIRST:  What DOES The BIBLE Say?

“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman.
It is an abomination.”
Leviticus 18:22)

“If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman,
both of them have committed an abomination.
They shall surely be put to death.
Their blood shall be upon them.”
(Leviticus 20:13)

“A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man,
nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment,
for all who do so are an abomination
to the LORD your God.”
(Deuteronomy 22:5)

“Do you not know that the unrighteous
will not inherit the Kingdom of God”
Do not be deceived.
Neither fornicators, …
nor adulterers,
nor homosexuals,
nor sodomites,
nor thieves, …
will inherit the Kingdom of God.
And such were some of you.
(We are all sinners … ‘Repent’ means turn back to God)
But you were washed
(by the innocent blood of Jesus shed for all of our sins)
But you were sanctified (means “set apart”)
But you were justified
(justified means “just as if your sins had never happened”)
in the Name of the Lord Jesus
and by the Spirit of our God.”
(1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

In the following passage we find the Bible goes on to warn that God’s Law also applies to those who simply “approve of” these things (including homosexuality-lesbianism) …

“For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven
against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men …
For even their women exchanged the natural use
for what is against nature (lesbianism).
Likewise also the men,
leaving the natural use of the woman,
burning in their lust for one another,
men with men
committing what is shameful (homosexuality) …
that those who practice these things
are worthy of death (Hell),
and not only those who do the same
but also those who APPROVE OF those who practice them!”
(Romans 1:18, 26, 27, 32)
(Other offenses were included which are not listed here.)

Here, God clearly warns all those who simply “approve of” these things will be held just as accountable as those who actually do them. This is God’s Word and Law in the Bible.  We have all been given a free will to either accept it or reject God’s Word.  It’s our choice.

We find in the Bible this also applies to churches and church leaders as well when we read those Bible prophecies which reveal many churches will “fall away” from God’s Word and “will depart from the faith” and “will no longer endure sound doctrine” around the time of the Apocalypse (1 Timothy 4:1-3, 2 Timothy 4:3-5, Jude 1:3-6).

Taken from both the Old and New Testaments, these verses have been given because they represent a portion of God’s Law as found in the Bible.

The verses we have just read also reveal God’s Law is not ambiguous concerning homosexuality. We soon discover that Homosexuality is nothing new.

At the time the Apostle Paul wrote the verses above homosexuality was rampant throughout the ancient Roman Empire. Roman Emperor Nero once married a man who was dressed as the bride, and on another occasion, Emperor Nero dressed as the bride as he married another man.

However, the generation alive today is the first generation since the fall of the ancient Roman Empire to embrace and promote homosexuality in such an overt manner.

Who Loves the Homosexual More?

The Christian (any follower of Jesus Christ) is commanded to “love others” and “to treat others as we would want to be treated.”

ALL believing Christians (regardless of whether they were heterosexual or homosexual) have had to come face-to-face with the fact we are all sinners and desperately need a ‘Savior’ to save us from our sins and from Hell.

Jesus Christ commands us to “love our enemies” and to “treat others as we would want to be treated” … and you can’t love someone or treat them the way you would want to be treated without warning them when they are in great and grave danger.

We are also commanded by God to never “judge” any others, (their sins are no worse than ours), but, He also commands us to love others enough to warn them of the terrible consequences of ignoring His Word concerning these things.

Now, think this through.  According to the Bible, a person who willfully (defiantly, without repentance) commits homosexual or lesbian sin “will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11), and those who “approve of those who do such things” will be held just as guilty.

In the Bible, we find Jesus Christ’s very first command was to “repent” (turn away from those things which are against God’s Law) and then to trust in Him alone to save us from all our sins. For He said He came to “save sinners” … lots of them … both Jew and Gentile.  Any and all who will sincerely love Him and faithfully trust in His suffering and death on the Cross to have paid for (and washed away) all of our sins, and in His Resurrection to provide us with eternal life in His Kingdom of Heaven, will be saved.

The Bible warns until we acknowledge we are sinners and that we desperately need a Savior to save us from our sins (past, present, and future) we won’t (or can’t) be saved from Hell.

So, who loves the homosexual more? One who tells them it’s okay to continue in a sin the Bible warns will condemn them to an eternity in Hell, or, someone who is willing to endure the anger, ridicule, and hate to warn them and to try to get them into Heaven as a neighbor and as a friend?

In Proverbs 27:6 God says, “Faithful are the wounds of a friend … but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Jesus Christ said more about Hell than He did about Heaven, and the true believing Christian will try to get as many boys, girls, men, and women into the Kingdom of Heaven as possible.

If a Christian truly hated the homosexual (or anyone willfully sinning against God’s Law) they would simply keep silent and let them suffer in the eternal darkness, loneliness, and torment of Hell.

It is false doctrine in direct opposition to God’s Word that teaches God’s “love” approves of or accepts homosexuality, for the Bible clearly says homosexuality-lesbianism is a sin, just as it clearly says stealing, lying, murder, gossip, adultery, pride, drunkenness, and fornication (any sex outside of marriage) is a sin.

Jesus said He came to save sinners. Jesus suffered and died for all sinners, and we are all sinners. God hates sin because He endured the Cross to suffer and die for and to save us from all of our sins … and because He knows the terrible consequences.

The Bible warns anybody who “defends” or “approves of” or “promotes” or “protects” this sin (or any sin) has openly declared their opposition to God and His Word by trying to block God’s loving and gracious efforts to reach out and save them into eternal life in His Kingdom of Heaven.

That is why He pleads with all to repent (turn away) from doing those things that are against His laws, His statutes, and His rules … and with tears of joy and with the open arms of a loving Father He will richly forgive and welcome back all who will return to Him.

Please remember, our God is a forgiving God who will forgive any and all who have sinned against Him. Any sinner, including those who have walked the path of homosexuality or lesbianism, can be lovingly forgiven and washed clean through the blood of the Lamb, and then graciously clothed in His perfect Righteousness in order to enter into the eternal Kingdom of Heaven.

Here we find Sodom and Gomorrah were given as examples and warnings …

“As Sodom and Gomorrah,
and the cities around them
in a similar manner to these, (5 cities were destroyed)
having given themselves over to sexual immorality
and gone after strange flesh, (homosexuality)
are set forth as an example,
suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”
(Jude 1:7)

“And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes,
condemned them (Sodom and Gomorrah) to destruction,
making them an example
to those who afterward
would live ungodly”
(2 Peter 2:6)

The Bible warns we are ALL sinners (“There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10). The Bible says if we say we have no sin we are liars and are calling God a liar …

“If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
IF we confess our sins,
He (God) is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins
and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.
(He is filled with mercy and forgiveness)
If we say that we have not sinned,
we make Him (God) a liar,
and His Word is not in us.”
(1 John 1:8-10)

The Bible warns until we acknowledge we are sinners and we need a Savior to save us from our sins we can’t be saved from Hell.

The literal translation of Jesus’ name in Hebrew (Yeshua) means “Savior.”

The Bible also warns if we commit one sin we are guilty of all sins (James 2:10).

Anybody gossip or lie lately?

WHATEVER the sin is in our life, the Bible promises God will forgive us if we ask and are willing to “repent” (which simply means turning back to God and His ways and turning away from all those things the Bible says are wrong … and seeking His help when we can’t seem to do it on our own.)

We are also to trust in Jesus completely (even when we fail, and we will all fail) and confess our sins to God and sincerely ask for His forgiveness (to “confess” simply means to agree with God that what we have done is wrong.) God offers this gift of forgiveness through His Son, our Lord and Savior, who suffered greatly as He lovingly PAID for all of our sins on the Cross and shed His blood which we are told “washes away ALL of our sins.”

God’s Warning To All . . .

“When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’
and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked
from his wicked way, to save his life,
that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity (sin);
but his blood I will require at your hand.
“Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn
from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way,
he shall die in his iniquity;
but you have delivered your soul.
“Again, when a righteous man
turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity,
and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die;
because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin,
and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered;
but his blood I will require at your hand.
“Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man
that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin,
he shall surely live because he took warning;
also you will have delivered your soul.”
(Ezekiel 3:18-21)

Please Remember . . .

The Kingdom of Heaven is available to every man, woman, boy, and girl in this world, no matter who they are, how old they are, or what sins they have committed. It is freely offered to any and all who will receive it. That is the “good news” (‘gospel’ in Greek.) Simply learn of Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, invite Him into your life as Savior and Lord, believe He died on the Cross for all of your sins and rose from the grave. Learn of Him … for He was the only one who has ever loved you enough to substitute Himself for you on the Cross (which represents Hell). He shed His blood, suffered, and died on the Cross to pay for your sins and to save you from your sins and from the utter loneliness, darkness, and torment of Hell, if you will accept it, believe it, and trust in it … it’s God’s Promise!!!

The only unpardonable sin is to reject God’s love and His free offer of life in the Kingdom of Heaven by rejecting God’s Savior, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Mashiach in Hebrew), who stepped forth from Eternity (“from of old, from everlasting”… see Micah 5:2) … not to condemn the sinner, but to save the sinner (from the torment of Hell) and who willingly and lovingly shed His innocent blood on the Cross so we can be washed clean of all our sins.

The Bible warns there can be no peace in our hearts or minds until we make peace with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior and Messiah.

Grace and Shalom
