The reason why the Roman Church would imprison and execute those who were found owning a Bible for many, many years, and why the Roman Church (until very recently) would only speak their services in Latin (so “common” people/peons could not understand it) is because they knew/know whenever somebody studies and learns the Bible it quickly reveals how many Roman Church doctrines are either in direct opposition or are nowhere to be found in God’s Word.
However, the Roman Church Doctrines/Dogmas DO empower (and enrich) the Roman Church and Roman Popes (but they will not save anybody).
The Roman Church is based on forcibly (and often secretly) attacking their enemies and teaching the way to Heaven is only through their rules (not the Bible’s rules) … while Bible-believing (“Protestant”) churches teach God tells us to love our enemies and that our assurance of eternal life in Heaven is simply based on a sincere love and faith in Jesus Christ who lovingly bore all of our sins for us on the Cross “once and for all.”
Jesus Christ’s death on the Cross solved our “sin” problem … and His Resurrection on the third day opened the Kingdom of Heaven where He now prepares a place for all who will place their love, faith, trust in Him, His Word, and in His completed work on the Cross while turning away from sinful activities and turning back to God (and His ways which are good) … He promises no other man-made list of “works” or special rules are required to enter into His Kingdom of Heaven (and are in fact forbidden to be required).
